Common issues Skene users encounter and how to fix them, plus a quick FAQ.
Common issues
Widget not appearing on my site
- Check script tag is present and loads without network errors (DevTools)
- API key in snippet matches an active key in workspace settings
- Your domain is in Allowed Origins for that API key
- Source is published, not just built
Widget shows 'no milestones' or empty state
- Analysis might not have completed—open source and trigger/refresh
- No approved milestones—review suggestions and ensure at least one lifecycle has milestones
- Widget not rebuilt after changes—click Build widget again
See Milestones & lifecycles for designing and approving milestones.
Repository analysis failed or stuck
- GitHub App or token revoked/expired—re-authorize access
- Insufficient permissions—tokens need read-only Contents access
- Very large repos may timeout—try a smaller, more focused repo
- GitHub rate limits—wait a few minutes and retry
Analytics missing or wrong
- Widget is published and embedded on pages users actually visit
- Time window includes days when users were active
- Ad-blockers not blocking requests for test users
- Filtering by correct source in analytics views
Frequently asked questions
- Which repository platforms does Skene support?
- Skene currently supports GitHub repositories. You can connect both public and private repositories using the GitHub App or a personal access token.

- Yes. Create multiple workspaces for strict separation, or multiple sites inside one workspace for environments/surfaces of the same product. See Workspaces & sites.

- You can build and publish widgets for each source you connect. Most teams start with one primary widget and add more for advanced or segment-specific journeys.
- Is the widget mobile-friendly?
- Yes. The Skene widget is responsive and works across desktop and mobile layouts.
- How do I update milestones after publishing?
- Edit milestones in the source detail page, click Build widget, then Publish again. The updated widget will be served immediately.
